NYSSMA

The  mission of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) is to advance music education across NY state for its membership and students in member school programs.  Each year NYSSMA holds festivals throughout NY state offering students the opportunity to participate in the performance evaluation process.  Click below to access the informative presentation our music teachers developed explaining the process.  Please reach out to your child's ensemble teacher with any questions!  You can also visit the NYSSMA website for more info!

Bach to Rock Scarsdale

Bach to Rock Scarsdale offers 1-on-1 private lessons & group music classes for all ages. Students play the songs they love to make lessons more fun and engaging - we encourage them to join one of our Rock Bands and start performing with other students their age ASAP, no experience necessary!

 

Our Early Childhood music classes such as Rock City (instrument exploration) and Kids n Keys (piano-based) are a great introduction to our level-based curriculum. Our website has detailed descriptions of each class for more information.

Jazz Forum Arts

Jazz Forum Arts Student Ensemble (grades 5-12):  This student ensemble for aspiring young musicians, offers music students the opportunity to become Jazz improvisers. Students will explore Jazz while playing in a group setting of their peers. These ensembles give students a chance to learn the tools of improvisation, melodic development and basic Jazz harmony using a repertoire of blues and jazz standards.

Jitterbugs:  For preschoolers (18mos-5yrs)  

The Jazz Forum is bringing Jazz to a new generation of New Yorkers. The Jitterbugs program is be based on playful interactive activities, encouraging the children to participate and learn about Jazz.

 

We always invite guest artists to join our educator to widen your child’s the horizon of what Jazz is and can be. The Jitterbugs program dive into various Jazz themes, including the history of the music, important musicians, instruments and different Jazz eras of the past. Let’s play, sing and learn together!

 

Classes are held at a real Jazz club: The Jazz Forum in Tarrytown!

(Class attendance of caretakers is obligatory.)

Lagond Music School

 

Experience high-quality music instruction from seasoned teachers, each boasting over a decade of collaboration with us. Our instructors are proficient in a rich array of contemporary music styles, from Jazz, Latin, and Funk to Rock and Pop. All our educators have been trained in the unique Lagond curriculum. RiverArts


Live and learn! RiverArts offers educational programs for students of all ages and skill levels, including private music lessons, jazz and percussion ensembles, and creative summer camps


Mighty Musicians (grades K-2): In our popular Mighty Musicians class, students in Kindergarten, first and second grade will sing, dance, improvise, and develop their musical senses. The curriculum is infused with elements from Dalcroze, Eurhythmics, and Orff.  This 8-week class for students in K-2 includes a variety of skill-based activities such as: songs: multicultural, call and response, and game; vocal warm-ups: beginning solfeggio, tongue twisters, pentatonics; instrument families: mini introductions / listening awareness; rhythmic imitation: hand and body, rhythm sticks; musical nomenclature: written and oral recognition.


Music Lessons:  RiverArts offers one-on-one instruction in a variety of disciplines, including Winds, Brass, Guitar, Percussion, Strings, Harp, Piano, and Voice. Our dedicated faculty of professional musicians are at the heart of RiverArts’ music program, which offers a diverse slate of educational and performance opportunities for students of all skill levels.

At RIVERROCK, we believe music can uplift the soul and that anyone can become proficient at making music if the lessons are focused and fun. River Rock students feel the pride of playing well, feel the joy of musical collaboration, and feel the thrill of public performance. 

 

Music Babies (6 months-18 months): A nurturing 40-minute class that will expand your baby’s natural musicality and curiosity. Parent and baby bond through song, movement, and instruments. Meet like-minded parents and form adult community in a relaxed, supportive environment.

 

Toddler Rockers (18 months-36 months):  A joyous 40-minute music class. You and your toddler will bond through music as you sing, clap, hum, move, smile, stomp, dance, shake, and giggle. The River Rock approach engenders a love of music and helps toddlers strive for appropriate developmental milestones involving listening, speaking, counting and the use of fine and gross motor skills.

 

Preschoolers (3 yrs-5 yrs):  dynamic, fun-filled, 40-minute music class where kids explore, interact and form community through music. Kids sing with joy and confidence, move in time, and use instruments and their bodies to learn about rhythm, tempo, pitch, timbre, dynamics, and melody.  Movements emphasize both fine and gross motor skills.  Songs feature vocabulary-building, rhyming, and counting concepts.
